May 20, 2013 - Crochet Hook World Record Attempt
Wow...what an amazing week it has been!!! On Monday, May 20th, I attempted to set 2 World Records by knitting the required 10 stitches wide by 10 rows long gauge swatch using 13 ft. knitting needles and a 9lb crochet hook. These crafting tools were created and gifted to me by Jim Bolin of Bolin Enterprises Inc.

Jim started on this journey in January 2013. He currently  holds 2 Guinness World Records for creating the World's Largest Wind Chime and The World's Largest Golf Tee. The Wind Chime draws in bus loads of tourist to our small community and sits only 1 block from my shop location.

Within 2 weeks, we should know our status with Guinness Book and add 2 more records to Jim's list. I'll keep you posted!!

Amigurumi Fun...

Most of you know that I spend the month of February in Florida (to please my husband who enjoys my company and to have time to create). Time is a good thing and allows me to tackle projects that are on my "someday" list. This trip I took a book on crocheting Amigurumi. I have had the best time playing with this very simple crochet techinique. So much fun...I see many more of these in my future.

Steeking is Complete

Good News...I survived "steeking." It was not as scary as it seems. I cut between 2 seams that I had stitched using a sewing machine. Now to pick up the stitches around the collar and finish with a two and half inch, ribbed edge. Soooo close, unfortunately I am traveling right now and have left this project packed away in a basket at home:( It will just have to wait until I return home again.

Fair Isle Fun

So excited...I am almost ready to preform my first steek...EEK!! Hopefully tonight I will start the surgery. I am posting a pic of my progress so far. So proud, I started it during Heather's surgery just before Christmas. I was able to work diligently on it for about 3 days. Since then, it has been hit and miss. I changed the top yoke design. The original pattern called for carrying 3 yarns across the back. I was frustrated and the material gave a noticeable change in texture. Carrying 3 threads made it almost "bullet proof", not the look I am after:))...thus the change.
